Introduction to Computer

Computer Basics (3 hrs.) - This course is designed for the person who is not familiar with the computer.  Topics include powering up a computer; network login; using the mouse; using the Start Menu; opening  programs, files, and window options;  using Windows Explorer & My Computer; selecting text, icons, and options; change desktop background; arrange the desktop; recycle bin; customizing  the taskbar; pinning programs; create folders; create shortcuts; and log off/shut down procedures.

Lotus Notes

Lotus Notes Basics (2 hrs.)  – Create, send, read, and delete mail; Managing bookmarks; Attachments; User Options; Search options; Address book

Lotus Notes Calendar/Schedule (1-2 hrs.)  – Create calendar and meeting entries; Create “To Do” tasks

Microsoft Business Contact Manager

Microsoft Business Contact Manager (3 hrs.) - Learn how to work with Business Contacts, Business Projects, and Business Accounts.  Learn to create project tasks and track activities.  Run, print, export, and save reports through Business Contact Manager.

Microsoft Excel

Excel Basics (4-6 hours) –Create a new workbook; Enter, edit, and delete data; Undo/Redo; learn navigational tools; change row height and column width; copy data; using auto-fill tools; move data; save workbooks; close workbooks; open existing workbooks; shortcuts for selecting data; Learn to use the following format options: alignment, number formats; format cell dialog box, orientation, wrap text, merge & center, font type & color, borders, and fill.  Use different views; insert and delete cells, columns, and rows.  Add, delete, and rename worksheets.  Change worksheet tab color.  Learn how to use Autosum function to summarize cell values.  Create simple mathematical formulas.  Learn basic setup features (margins, orientation, and gridlines).  Learn about available printing options.

Excel Intermediate (4-5 hours) – Learn how to “Freeze panes” to keep headings in view; change views; set up the workbook to print by using the “Scale to fit” option; create header and  footer; set a print area; print headings on every page; view row and column headings; insert page breaks; hide/unhide rows or columns; sort data; convert data in a single column to multiple columns; move and copy worksheets; use the Find and Replace tool to locate and replace data or formats within the workbook; customize Excel through “Options”; Use the AutoCalculate tool to see totals, averages, etc. of selected cells; Enter mixed formulas within a workbook; Copy formulas; learn how to fix error messages; Insert, edit, and delete comments attached  to specific cells.  Learn how to quickly remove duplicate data (Excel 2007 and 2010)

Excel Query (2 hrs.)  – Use Excel to query data from your internal database.  Export the data to Excel.  (Requires ODBC driver installed prior to training)

Excel Advanced Formatting (1 ½ hrs.)  – Learn how to use AutoFormat tool; custom/special number formatting; Format Painter; Conditional Formatting; and Transpose Rows to Columns.

Excel Basic Formulas / Functions (2 hrs.)  –- Learn to create basic formulas in cells; learn to use AutoCalculate; learn how to use AutoSum.  Create formulas using the “Order of Operations”.  Learn how to copy formulas; learn common functions such as SUM, PRODUCT, AVERAGE, MIN, and MAX.  (NOTE: These skills are also taught in the Excel Basics/Intermediate classes.)

Excel Advanced Functions (2- 3 hrs.)  – Learn to use the subtotals function for single and nested subtotals; learn how to create both relative and absolute cell references; create COUNTIF , IF, and nested IF functions; use CONCATENATE to join cell values; and use VLOOKUP or HLOOKUP to lookup values in a  table.  Learn to use the formula auditing tools.

Excel Creating & Editing Charts (2 hrs.)  – Learn how to create & edit various types of charts from Excel data.

Excel Sort, Text to Columns, & Comments (1-1½ hrs.)  – Sort data, take data from one column and convert to multiple columns, insert comments related to a specific cell.  Edit, delete, and format comments in a cell.  (NOTE: These topics are included in Excel Intermediate.)

Excel Print (2 hrs.)  – Setting Up a Worksheet for Proper Printing - Add a Header/Footer; Page Setup Options (scaling, print titles, gridlines, etc.); Print Area; Page Break Preview; insert page breaks; Print Preview.  (NOTE: These topics are included in Excel Intermediate.)

Excel Forms (1 ½ hrs) – Learn how to create electronic forms with check boxes, radio buttons, drop-down boxes, data validation, protection, and locked cells.

Excel Macros (1 hr) –You'll want to take this class if you perform a task repeatedly in Excel.  This task can be automated by recording a macro.  Once you record a macro, Excel stores information about each step you take as you perform a series of commands.  You then run the macro to repeat, or "play back," the commands.

Excel Filtering (1 – 1 ½ hrs.)  – Learn how to filter out the data you want to see from a worksheet.  Learn how to use all the features of Autofilter and Advanced Filter, including filtering the Top 10.

Excel Linking Data (2- 2.5 hrs.)  – Link data within the same workbook; link data to another workbook; insert formula links; control how links are updated; break links, and reconnect a broken link.  Learn how to use Hyperlinks to quickly jump to another file or web page; insert screen tips; and deactivate hyperlinks.

Excel PivotTables Basic – (2-3 hrs.) learn how to create a PivotTable to summarize data; change the layout; change how data is summarized; group items; format a PivotTable; and refresh data in a PivotTable.

Excel Pivot Tables Advanced (1½ hrs.)  – Learn how to use formulas in PivotTables and display results as percentages.  Show the Top Ten.  Learn how to create a “Static” chart and a PivotTable chart.

PowerPoint Intermediate (3 -4 hrs.)  – Using the Slide Master; using the Title Master; Using Excel Charts in PowerPoint; Custom Animation; Create your own template; Customizing your slide show; prepare the slide show for sharing.  Create Hyperlinks; embed files; insert sounds, music, or video.

Microsoft Publisher

Publisher Basics (2 hrs.)  - Create a flyer using wizards, learn parts of the Publisher screen, modify, move and resize graphics, customize personal information, save, retrieve and print the flyer

Publisher Free Form (2-4 hrs) - Create a flyer from scratch, insert, resize and align text boxes, insert graphics, lines and logos, work with lines, shapes and borders, use layout guides, create and modify bulleted lists, insert symbols, change text color and add text effects, use WordArt, create hyperlinks and email the publication

Publisher Postcards (2-4 hrs.)  - Create a postcard using wizards, examine pages, create a list of names and addresses in Publisher, merge the names onto the postcard, customize the delivery address and return address, sort and filter the postcards, apply categories to the list.

Microsoft Sharepoint 2007

Microsoft Sharepoint Intermediate (3.5 hrs) - Use Microsoft SharePoint to create and edit Surveys.  Learn how to respond to a Survey and view Survey results.  Create and assign Workflows.  Complete assigned tasks and view status of Workflows and Workflow Reports.  Use Issue Tracking by creating an Issue Tracking List, complete issues, and delete Issue Tracking Lists.  Manage Permissions.  Learn how to edit permissions, add users to a site or group, and delete users.  View and edit permissions on a List or Library.

Word Mail Merge (1-3 hrs.)  – Learn how to use Mail Merge for labels, letters, envelopes, or email.  Merge your list of names and addresses to labels, envelopes, or documents.

Word Managing Auto-features (2 hrs.)  – Learn how to use AutoText, AutoComplete, AutoCorrect, and AutoFormat.

Word Tabs (1 hr.) – Learn how to set various types of tabs including decimal, center, right aligned, and bar tabs.  Learn how to create leaders between tabs.  Learn how to select vertical data.  Learn how to set tabs within a table.

Word Using Pictures and Graphics (2 hrs.) – Learn how to insert and format pictures, clip art, and screen shots.  Learn how to use the drawing tools to draw shapes and lines; insert text boxes, Word Art, Page Borders, and SmartArt.

Working with Photos

Digital Cameras (2 hrs.)  - Understand the parts of the digital camera, take photos, change settings, download photos into the computer, view photos in different ways, examine photo resolution and file size.

Microsoft Paint

Microsoft Paint (1 hr.) - Modify Photos, use the Image Menu to explore special effects, use the drawing toolbar, add a text box, clone a portion of the image, save the photo.
